Drinking from a straw and feeding himself

Luke drank from a straw at lunch yesterday. He's gaining more and more independence. He refuses to be fed by Sue at daycare. He much prefers feeding himself (and the floor). What a silly little boy!

ear aches and such

Our Family on 12/24/07

Well, Luke is still having pain in his little ears. I'm hoping we don't have to put him on another antibiotic. The amoxicillin that he's on hasn't done much to fix the problem. He's still running a low grade fever and rubbing his ears. Plus he's super snotty. It seems like we clean his nose every five minutes.

Then again, it could be that he's cutting his first molars. I can see little white squares that look like molars under the surface of his gums. Poor baby, if it's not one thing it's another! Thank goodness for baby orajel (thanks for reminding me Jackie).

I'm going to try to get our house decked out for the Holidays tomorrow. I'm a procrastinator by nature, but I want Luke to experience the colorful decorations we've accumulated over the years. Maybe next year Luke can help me decorate the house the week of Thanksgiving so he can enjoy the lights longer.

Oh, Luke took his own temperature with the Temporal Thermometer before bed tonight. Add that to his bag of tricks!

Snow in Houston!

It snowed about 3 inches in our neighborhood last night! We took Luke out for a couple minutes so he could experience his first snow flurry. The snowflakes were humongous and absolutely beautiful! Since Luke was diagnosed with an ear infection yesterday we didn't stay out in the cold very long, but he enjoyed every second.

My car door was iced closed this morning, so I had to go get David to open it and to clean off my windshield. The kids at school were so excited. All they wanted to do was go outside. What a treat to have snow in Houston. Although, I am glad we don't have snow everyday; today was a traffic nightmare. :0)

To Gramps...

Gramps got Luke an Elmo Live

I just love this picture!

We had Tamales and cake for Luke's birthday celebration.

Gramps, Luke and Grammy had fun playing and talking

Luke was about 4 months old in this picture. Gramps wanted to hold him all the time!

My Gramps passed away Sunday morning. He would sit and look at this blog for hours. He loved Luke so much. When he was very sick, and couldn't communicate with words, stories of Luke still brought a smile to his face. I thought it would be appropriate to dedicate this entry to him. We miss you Gramps!
