It's hitting me...

Luke, Mommy, and Daddy came up with this one. :0)

I was sitting eating my dinner, my son in his high chair right in front of me, and it hit me. I only have a week left of summer vacation to spend with my little guy. I teared up a little and had to remind myself that he'll love going to "school" and learning all sorts of new and exciting things with his friends. I guess it's a little harder this year because he's talking to us now. We even joke around about stuff and he's funny. He's a little boy... ..not a baby anymore.

I love my job, don't get me wrong. Being a teacher is a "calling" for me, not just a job. It's just... ..well, time is passing extremely fast. I'm taking pictures and treasuring the memories as much as possible. Does anyone else feel my pain?

Tadoodles!

Luke enjoys coloring almost as much as he enjoys his baths!

Sticky Hair, Lily, and the new sandbox

Luke twirls his hair; even when he's eating. This leads to some funny Alfalfa-type hair styles.

My precious Lily

David found 50 pound bags of play sand at Home Depot. He filled the sandbox with 2 bags of sand.

Luke enjoying his sandbox

This picture was taken right before Luke dumped a shovel full of sand in his face. I have a picture of that, put it was just too pitiful to post. Even after eating the sand, Luke cried as I carried him off to his bath. I love my little toddler!

Water table and Galveston

Water tables are usually not used as pools. Luke had other plans.

After our trip to the beach we had lunch at Joe's

Mommy and her little man (yes, I have a really cool tan line too)

My guys playing in the water together. I love my family!

Luke's new favorite things:

Favorite Activity(s): Anything water related - baths, showers, swimming, water table, playing at the beach, etc.

Favorite Words/Phrases: "More Please", "Meemo"(He's obsessed with "Finding Nemo"), "Bumblebee"(now referrs to the movie "A Bugs Life" as bumblebee), "Argh"(LOVES PIRATES), "Moo", "Cow"(sometimes uses this word when I have my cell phone out because he wants to go through his electronic flash cards), "Mommy", "Daddy", "OUCH!" (he's really not in pain, he just doesn't want to be held or changed)
I'm sure I'll think of more when I'm not as tired and I'll add them to the list. :0)

Favorite Foods: Macaroni and Cheese, green and black olives, cookies (any cookie really), goldfish crackers, dried cherries, raisins, ice cream, mustard (just makes any meat more yummy), Juice, Tea, Milk..... loads of faves!!

We had such a great time watching Luke "dive" in to his water table. We'd planned for him to just stand and play with his cute little toys and water tower. He had other plans. His diaper got HUGE! It was hillarious!

Galveston was a great experience! I'll never forget putting Luke down expecting to walk slowly hand-in-hand to the water, and Luke running full force into the water getting completly soaked and drinking a big gulp of salty sea water. Our boy loves the water and is fearless (a little scary, but we're teaching him to swim so he'll be safe.)

First popsicle and a new hair style

Aren't I handsome?

I made some popsicles with some apple juice and blueberries today and Luke LOVED them. I put them in the freezer earlier today for after dinner. As luck would have it, Luke was put in "time out" around 5 pm and he promptly bonked his lip on his crib. I ran in when I heard him screaming and I noticed the blood on his blanket. I thought about getting some ice to put on his lip when I remembered that I'd made the popsicles earlier. I took them out and gave him one. I showed him how to eat it and he was hooked. At first I think he was shocked by the cold but he enjoyed it. He kept saying "mmm", "popicle", and "apple". I made him stay in the kitchen to eat it, and I'm glad I did 'cause there was popsicle residue everywhere! Next time I need one of those no-drip cup things you can attach to the stick. You know, I think popsicles make everything better!

Oh, notice the new doo? I think it's cute. David took him to get his haircut while I was grocery shopping yesterday. Good job Daddy!
